It’s been a long week, so it’s time to reclaim your sanity and start the weekend off on the lighter side of life. Every Friday, I bring you a true story that will leave you asking (as we say in the Unscripted family) “WTF mate?!?” In case you don’t know what “WTF” means, let’s just pretend it’s “What we’re they thinking?” Hopefully, this news will you make you realize just how sane you are or at least make you feel better about your own circumstances! (Never ever use any of these stories as inspiration for your own devious plans. I’ll give you a hint… they never turn out well, so save yourself the trouble!)
A few weeks ago, I introduced you to the Sharpie Bandits who skimped on their disguise before a robbery and instead opted for the homemade sharpie marker look. While surfing through the newest additions to The Darwin Awards, I stumbled upon a guy who took the make-your-own-mask theory to an award-winning level.
The second two South Carolina men walked into a Sprint PCS store last August, I'm sure store employees and customers knew something was about to happen. The men, both in their early 20s, looked a lot like an Oscar statue when they pulled out their guns and started demanding money from everyone in the store.
According to TheState.com, the men had painted their faces with metallic gold spray paint, in an attempt to disguise themselves.
The Golden Guys walked off with wallets, purses and credit cards after forcing everyone in the store into a bathroom. But, as you can imagine, they didn't get too far.
One of the men soon had trouble breathing, police believe because of the fumes from the metallic paint, which by the way comes in a can with a huge warning label about keeping it away from your skin. He died a short time later.
Goldfinger's partner in crime, however was lucky enough to escape the same fate. He was not lucky enough to get away from police. Customers in the store quickly identified the man.
It's hard to hide when your face is bright gold.
